Lorraine Goodman received her undergraduate degree from Princeton and her Master’s in Performing Arts Administration at NYU’s Steinhardt. Her subsequent professional administration experience started at The Red Hot Organization and Theatre for a New Audience, and was followed by leadership development/fundraising roles at New York Musical Festival, Roulette Intermedium, and Princeton AlumniCorps, and executive roles at the Latin American Legal Defense Fund and Broadway Bound Kids. Over her various tenures, she has raised over $18 million, primarily from institutional sources. This includes government grants (National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, the CDC Foundation, and others); private foundations; and corporate sponsorships and grants In Fall 2022, she chaired the 100th “Celebraversary” of Princeton University’s Theatre Intime, a three-day event that was held on the university’s campus at six different locations. Over 200 Princeton University Alumni, local performing artists, and arts practitioners attended. Panelists included Executive Directors from prominent performing arts institutions, a Nobel Prize-winning journalist, and the EVP of Media for the NBA. In addition to managing the various committees leading up to the weekend celebration, she oversaw registration, marketing (both online and successfully soliciting feature articles in local papers), hiring/managing part-time support staff, the event’s budget, and more. During the three-day celebration, she MC’ed or introduced nearly every event. Ms. Goodman is also a passionate puzzle-solver and budding cruciverbalist. Her crossword puzzles have been published in Newsday and the Wall Street Journal. Prior to receiving her Master’s and moving into nonprofit work, Ms. Goodman pursued a career in theatre and appeared in leading roles on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning shows "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," "Les Misérables," and Terrence McNally’s "Master Class," where she covered the role originally played by six-time Tony-award winner Audra McDonald. Overseas, she starred in "Cats" and "Phantom of the Opera." As a teenager, Ms. Goodman played the cello in her school orchestra, as well as with the Long Island Youth Orchestra, the Suffolk Country Training Orchestra, and New York All State String Ensemble. Her experiences then inform her work with GPYO now. Email: [email protected] |
