Audition Requirements
for
Preparatory Strings, Camerata, & Chamber Winds
Students are asked to play:
* One or two solo works of your choice, between 2 and 4 minutes in length that demonstrate your technical
ability as well as your musicality.
Ideally, students should choose two contrasting pieces (excerpts are acceptable) as opposed to
one long continuous pieces with repeats.
in addition, please tape yourself playing:
* Two Scales: 1, 2 or 3 octaves in the keys of your choice.*
-Violins & Violas should prepare 2 and/or 3 octaves-
-Cellos & Bass players should offer 1 and/or 2 octaves -
* For more advanced ensembles (Concert Orchestra & Symphonic Orchestra), you may be asked to play specific scales, arpeggios, or even learn provided selections.
