Sarah BeairdSarah Beaird is currently pursuing her DMA at Rutgers University with Bart Feller. She has performed with the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble for the last 3 years, and with the Helix! The Contemporary Ensemble, for 1 year. Her chamber group Danza Winds also won the Rutgers Chamber Competition in the Spring of 2024. Sarah received her master’s degree from Roosevelt University, majoring in Classical Flute Performance, and studied with Marie Tachouet. She sat as principal flute in Roosevelt’s orchestra, wind ensemble, and contemporary ensemble, and played piccolo in wind ensemble and contemporary ensemble as well. She received her undergraduate degrees in Flute Performance and Music History/Literature from Wheaton College Conservatory and studied under Dr. Jennie Brown. While at Wheaton College
Sarah won the Concerto Competition for Winds and Percussion in 2017 and performed the Ibert Flute Concerto with Wheaton’s orchestra and symphonic band. During her time at Wheaton College, she also sat principal in the orchestra for 3 years and sat principal in symphonic band for 2 years. Sarah is a native of Seattle, and as a High School senior she won the Seattle Wind Symphony Concerto Competition, performing Fantasie by Georges Hue with the ensemble. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and crocheting. |
